Musings & a new book
My new children's book is ready to pre-order!
Seven Small Inventions that Changed the World, born of rebellion.

I’ve been doing some group career coaching recently. I’ve done group writing mentoring, group critiquing, group therapy, and there is something to be said of this dynamic. A collection of individuals with similar and different ideas, fears and goals, that can learn from each other.
Within this safe collective, I’ve been pushed me to think about what I need, what my values are, and what my strengths are, topped off by identifying my ‘unique genius’ (an uncomfortable process, I can assure you). Top of my 'needs’ list is Rebellion.
This surprised me, having been the achieving-goody-two-shoes most of my life, I now want to push boundaries and do unexpected and exciting things. I quit my stable engineering career for an unstable writing and speaking one. I’ve curated quite the collection of tattoos. My hair is blue. (Sometimes purple.) I take long trips away from my family for myself and my work. I’m not working 40 hour weeks and filling timesheets. I nap during the day. I take random days to binge watch television shows.
Do I feel comfortable in this? No, not yet, but it’s feeling more like me each month. It means I am resting and creating with sustainable balance. So what does rebellion look like to you?
A product of this new way of living is my next children’s book, which is now ready to pre-order! Seven Small Inventions that Changed the World is illustrated by an outstanding artist from South Korea, Jisu Choi. It’s based on Nuts & Bolts, if you enjoyed that and would like to get young people engaged in that content, this is the book for you.
Thank you, as always, for your support.
